NPPL goes ESPN

The National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) and Pure Promotions are pleased to announce that the 2005 NPPL Super 7 World Series Miami event will be taped for a Series of 8 one-hour Programs to air on one or more of the ESPN networks in the Spring of 2006.

ESPN approached TWI, the TV production arm of the hugely influential IMG Group to find the best and most competitive paintball league in the world earlier this year. The aim was to tape competitive paintball at the highest level, to create top quality shows aimed at the entire viewing public and to heavily promote and broadcast these shows on one or more of the ESPN networks.

TWI did their due diligence and came to the NPPL and Pure Promotions in early July '05 to explore the possibility of taping the NPPL Super 7 World Series. TWI had their Executive Producer, Steve Mayer at the Denver NPPL Super 7 – he liked what he saw and meetings were arranged at the TWI headquarters in New York with the TWI Vice Chairman Barry Frank, the NPPL and Pure Promotions to discuss the possibilities.

Barry Frank has an extensive background in crafting sports programmes on TV and he has a vision to capture the Sport of Paintball on the small screen by producing programmes that will appeal to the mass TV audience. His goal is to tape the end of season finale in Miami on November 5th and 6th 2005 and to brand the event as the “US Paintball Championship” for the TV audience and to boost the Pro prize money to a staggering $ 50,000 cash for 1st place making this the largest cash prize package ever offered in NPPL Professional Paintball history.

Production specialists and analysts have spent much of the season travelling to NPPL Super 7 World Series events to prepare for the Miami shoot. To accommodate the taping the Pro Schedule has been modified for this event – the Pro prelims will be on Friday 4th November on the number 2 field and Center Court. The Quarter Finals will be held on the Saturday and will be taped entirely leading through to the finals which have been moved from a Best of 3 to a Best of 5 format on Sunday. All Saturday and Sunday Pro games will be on Center Court and will be captured for the 8 Program Series.

TWI has hired on some of the industry's greatest to lead their production team.  Joe McCarthy (Production Manager), Sean Maddison (Producer), Brian Williams (Director) and Trace Worthington and our very own Matt Marshall announcing teaming up with some of paintball's most experienced film specialists including Brad Maughan, Sami Ansari, David Marks and Patrick Sopher on the filming and production side adding their experience and knowledge to produce a spectacular, high quality show with all the intensity and excitement that goes hand in hand with Professional Paintball.

ESPN believe in the future of televised, high quality Professional Paintball.
